Have Bridge
Archaeological Zone
Classical Mayan archaeological site located on a hill that was modified to create a series of terraces on which the buildings, plazas and ball courts are distributed.
The main period of occupation corresponds to the Classic and Early Post-Classic periods (between 300 and 1200 AD). Its strategic position, on the route that connects the Highlands of Chiapas and Guatemala, allowed it to have access to important commercial networks, as demonstrated by the presence of objects brought from long distances such as alabaster vessels, seashells and metals. Around 60 structures make up its core area, which extends over 30 hectares.

The construction technique that uses limestone stones perfectly assembled and placed without mortar or lime stands out. The importance of Tenam Puente lies in the fact that it represents the transition from the classical to the post-classical period and one of the least studied stages of Chiapas archaeology. From Tenam Puente there is an exceptional panoramic view of the plains of Comitán.
